In memory of the landlord Neil Rogers of The Swan Pub in Elstow, a team of 40 regulars got together to raise money for “Help for Heroes”.
The challenge was to pull a 44 Tonne Articulated lorry over a distance of 100 metres. The team managed to pull the truck 100 metres in just over one minute!
The event organiser Gary Halstead, a NEWS Transport LGV driver, was overwhelmed with the support he received.
Gary said “From the initial idea over a casual pint, to running the main event was only a matter of six weeks! Everyone has been very supportive, and this really shows the public feeling for the men and women who give so much to the armed forces.”
The total raised so far is over £5,000 and the donations and sponsorship is still coming in.
